2. What personal information we collect
Depending on how you interact with MK Digest, we may collect and process:
• your email address;
• information you choose to provide when you contact or reply to MK Digest;
• your subscription status, subscription date and subscription history;
• information about how you reached or subscribed to MK Digest, such as a referral source, website, campaign or UTM information;
• technical information such as IP address, browser or device information and approximate location;
• newsletter delivery and engagement information, such as sent, delivered, deferred, bounced, opened, clicked and unsubscribed events;
• email preference and suppression information needed to respect unsubscribe or opt-out requests; and
• correspondence with MK Digest, including relevant support messages sent by email or social media.
MK Digest does not require subscribers to provide special-category or other sensitive personal information in order to receive the newsletter.

3. How we obtain your information
Most personal information is provided directly by you, for example when you:
• enter your email address into an MK Digest subscription form;
• reply to a newsletter or email MK Digest;
• contact MK Digest through Facebook, Instagram or another social platform; or
• otherwise communicate with us.
We may also receive or generate limited technical, referral, attribution and engagement information automatically through the services used to operate the MK Digest website and newsletter. For example, Beehiiv may record that a subscriber arrived from facebook.com or from a campaign link.

4. Why we use your information
We use personal information to:
• provide the MK Digest newsletter you asked to receive;
• maintain and administer your subscription;
• send welcome or other operational emails relating to your subscription;
• process unsubscribe and preference requests;
• respond to questions, complaints and delivery problems;
• monitor email delivery, bounces and other technical issues;
• understand, in aggregate, how readers use and engage with MK Digest;
• improve the newsletter, website and subscriber experience;
• protect the service against misuse, fraud, spam and security problems; and
• meet legal, regulatory or record-keeping obligations where applicable.
We do not sell the MK Digest subscriber list.

5. Our lawful bases for processing
Consent. When you actively subscribe to MK Digest, we rely on your consent to use your email address to send the newsletter. You can withdraw that consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in a newsletter or contacting us.
Legitimate interests. We may rely on our legitimate interests where necessary to administer and protect the service, respond to correspondence, investigate technical or delivery problems, maintain appropriate records, prevent misuse, and understand general newsletter performance. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider whether our interests are outweighed by your rights and interests.
Legal obligations. We may process personal information where necessary to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.

6. Newsletter delivery and Beehiiv
MK Digest uses Beehiiv to host the newsletter website, manage the subscriber list and send newsletter emails. In most cases, where Beehiiv processes subscriber information on our instructions, Business Labs Pro Ltd acts as the controller and Beehiiv acts as our processor.
Beehiiv may process information including email addresses, IP addresses, approximate location, device information, subscription and acquisition information, and email delivery or engagement events. Beehiiv also carries out certain processing for its own purposes as described in its own privacy documentation.
Beehiiv privacy policy: https://www.beehiiv.com/privacy

7. Email delivery and engagement analytics
Beehiiv can record delivery and engagement events such as sent, delivered, deferred, bounced, opened, clicked and unsubscribed. MK Digest uses this information to monitor deliverability, diagnose technical problems and understand newsletter performance.
An email recorded as “opened” does not necessarily prove that a person deliberately opened or read the newsletter. Mailbox providers, privacy features and security systems can sometimes load email content automatically.
Where email analytics involves personal information, we may rely on legitimate interests under data-protection law. Tracking pixels and similar technologies may also be subject to separate rules under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

8. Facebook, Instagram and referral information
MK Digest may promote its subscription page through Facebook, Instagram or other services. If you follow a link or advertisement, Beehiiv or our other service providers may record limited referral or attribution information, such as the referring website or campaign parameters.
Meta and other third-party platforms process information on their own services under their own privacy terms. MK Digest does not receive your social-media password or access to your private account merely because you click an MK Digest advertisement or link.

9. Who we share information with
We disclose personal information only where there is a legitimate reason to do so. Recipients may include:
• Beehiiv, which provides the newsletter, subscriber-management and website platform;
• email, domain, hosting, security and infrastructure providers used to operate MK Digest, including services used for correspondence;
• professional advisers where reasonably necessary; and
• regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies or other authorities where disclosure is required or permitted by law.
We do not provide the MK Digest subscriber list to unrelated organisations so that they can send their own marketing to MK Digest subscribers.

10. International transfers
Some service providers used by MK Digest are based outside the United Kingdom. In particular, Beehiiv is a United States company and may process publication and subscriber information in the United States.
Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, we use or rely on an appropriate transfer mechanism where required by law. Beehiiv’s Data Protection Addendum includes contractual safeguards for international transfers, including the UK International Data Transfer Addendum in relevant circumstances.
You can contact us if you would like further information about the safeguards applying to your personal information.

11. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and for applicable legal, security and record-keeping requirements.
• Active subscriber information is normally retained while the subscription remains active.
• If you unsubscribe, we may retain the minimum information needed to record and respect your opt-out and to maintain appropriate records.
• Correspondence may be retained while an enquiry or issue is being handled and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed for record-keeping, legal or security purposes.
• Information that is no longer required may be deleted or anonymised.

12. Unsubscribing and withdrawing consent
You can stop receiving MK Digest at any time. Every MK Digest newsletter contains an unsubscribe link. You can also contact hello@mkdigest.co.uk.
If our processing is based on your consent, withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before you withdrew it.
YOUR RIGHT TO OBJECT TO DIRECT MARKETING: You have the right to object at any time to the use of your personal information for direct marketing. If you unsubscribe or otherwise object, we will stop using your information for that purpose, subject to retaining the minimum suppression information needed to respect your choice.

13. Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you the right to:
• ask for access to the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
• ask us to erase personal information;
• ask us to restrict how information is used;
• object to certain processing;
• receive certain information in a portable format; and
• withdraw consent where our processing relies on consent.
These rights do not all apply in every circumstance. To exercise a right, email hello@mkdigest.co.uk and explain what you are requesting. We may ask for proportionate information to confirm your identity where this is reasonably necessary.

14. Providing your email address
Providing your email address to subscribe to MK Digest is voluntary. If you do not provide an email address, we cannot send the newsletter to you.

15. Automated decision-making
MK Digest does not use subscriber information to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects on individuals.

16. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or loss. We use established service providers to operate key parts of the MK Digest service and limit access to subscriber information to what is reasonably necessary. No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.

17. External websites
MK Digest newsletters and website pages may contain links to websites operated by third parties. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those external websites. If you follow an external link, you should review that organisation’s own privacy information where appropriate.

18. Cookies, tracking pixels and similar technologies
The MK Digest website and emails may use cookies, tracking pixels, link tracking or similar technologies through Beehiiv or other service providers for functions such as security, site operation, subscriber access, delivery measurement and analytics.
These technologies can be subject to PECR as well as UK data-protection law. Where the law requires a choice or consent for a particular technology, that requirement applies separately from this Privacy Notice. We will provide additional information or controls where required.

19. How to complain
If you have a concern about how MK Digest has handled your personal information, please contact us first and we will try to resolve it.
Email: hello@mkdigest.co.uk
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

20. Changes to this Privacy Notice
We may update this Privacy Notice as MK Digest develops, our service providers change, or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on the MK Digest website with its revision date. Where a change materially affects how we use existing subscribers’ personal information, we will take reasonable steps to bring the change to their attention where appropriate.
